00:00:07: About eighty-seven percent of our listening audience is male so Men's Mental Health Awareness Month Is Something That i think we should all be mindful Of both for ourselves And For Each Other.

00:00:19: It Wasn't Until A Few Years ago that I even knew June was dedicated To men's mental health?

00:00:25: So today, I want to talk about some sobering statistics and what we can do about them.

00:00:35: According the Anxiety & Depression Association of America men experience depression anxiety bipolar disorder in other mental health conditions just like women.

00:00:45: however culture fatherhood race socioeconomic status can all affect how many experienced an address mental-health struggles.

00:00:54: recognizing unique warning signs in man is vital because early intervention in treatment can save lives and improve outcomes.

00:01:03: Around one-in-ten men experience depression or anxiety, but less than half receive treatment at all.

00:01:10: Even more alarming Men are four times more likely to die by suicide then women.

00:01:16: Given how many men never seek professional help at all It's likely that many others struggle in silence.

00:01:23: it really isn't surprising when so many men Can say they felt pressure to shove their feelings down.

00:01:30: Just keep grinding or simply, you know...keep your head up right?

00:01:34: According to psychology today around seventy percent of men avoid seeking help until they have reached a full breaking point.

00:01:42: so why is this important to me?

00:01:45: well because I like many of you have struggled with self-worth depression and even thoughts of suicide.

00:01:52: one of the best decisions i ever made was recognizing those and I got help.

00:01:59: Now, i consider myself lucky because i know not everyone gets that same opportunity And i know some of you listening to this may be dealing with similar struggles right now.

00:02:10: so i want to say something very simple.

00:02:13: Your family your friends your community the people around you need You more than you know.

00:02:20: if you or someone?

00:02:21: Who knows is struggling please reach out.

00:02:25: it takes courage To step outside your comfort zone But it's so very important.

00:02:31: Talk to a trusted friend, family member, pastor or counselor Or even someone in this community.

00:02:38: Get involved into local game and join church or charity organization.

00:02:43: Being apart of something And believe is not serving others can do wonders for your mental health Most of all one.

00:02:52: the biggest problem is isolation.

00:02:55: Isolation is first step.

00:03:24: I want to know if you guys have seen this show because i feel like It's not talked about and I don't know why because it was a very, very good one.

00:04:03: There is this show on Discovery Channel called Junkyard Wars.
